Fleming's Wiggles Commitments Interfering with Batting Form

Auckland: New Zealand Cricket Captain Steven Fleming has been asked by New Zealand Cricket to reduce his level of commitment to children's band the Wiggles. Fleming has come under fire for poor batting performances after the tour of Africa and the recent one day series loss to Zimbabwe. This run of poor form has prompted New Zealand Cricket's David Trist to ask Fleming to restrict his Wiggles commitments to video and television appearances.

The decision will effectively rule Fleming out of the Wiggles lucrative United States tour in March. Fleming who plays character Greg Page in the Wiggles has been involved with the group from their beginnings ten years ago. The group has become very popular with young children the world over and it is believed that Fleming has become a millionaire from monies earned with the group.

This is not the first time that Fleming has come under fire for his commitment to the group. In 1995 Fleming was criticised for making the "A Wiggly, Wiggly Christmas" video just days before New Zealand's tour of England.

It is hoped that the decision will allow Fleming to concentrate on his batting, before the series with Sri Lanka begins this month.
