| EKETAHUNA: Another exciting week in the Eketahuna Social Football League was dominated by the Eketahuna Eels as they thrashed the Woodville Warriors 10-0 to claim the top of the table spot. It was a spirited first half performance by local butcher Gazza Murphy and his Warrior mates, but his injury five minutes into the second half opened the floodgates as the Eels rammed in ten from twelve shots at goal. Murphy, 38, aggravated an old knee injury and is expected to be sidelined on ACC for the next eight weeks. In other games, Sharemilkers’ United beat Pahiatua Panthers 3-0 – a hat-trick of goals going to ring-in Gordon Jackson, who was home for the University holidays helping his old man clear some scrub. A volunteer is sought to provide refreshments next week, as Doreen McCabe has to attend an aunt’s funeral in the ’Naki and can’t provide the oranges. Please phone Doreen on 06 375 8899 by Thursday.
