HAWEA: Twenty-seven-year-old father of two Marcus Smith is sure he left his twin children around here somewhere. Smith, who just popped into the TAB to put $5 each way on Golden Surprise in race 4 at Riccarton, is certain that he put them down beside the EFTPOS machine. “I popped them down, got some money out, ordered a 12 of DB, went to the TAB counter, placed a bet on the horses and now they’ve gone. What on Earth could have happened to them?” pondered the perplexed pater.

“Not too worry,” announced Smith, “I'm sure they'll turn up when it's time for feeding.”

Golden Surpise finished fifth in the Neville Smith Motors 1200m for two-year-olds behind Clippity Clop, Jimbo 3000, Short Hand Luke, and Plaster Caster.
