Bolger: Not another darkie at fullback

WELLINGTON – Former New Zealand prime minister, Kiwibank Chairman and All Black rugby enthusiast Jim Bolger has voiced his concern over the choice of Mils Muliaina as fullback for the All Blacks.

“Why isn’t that young Ben Blair starting at fullback? And what’s wrong with Christian Cullen?” Bolger was overheard asking a friend while collecting his winnings from the Johnsonville TAB after the first All Black Tri Nations match against Australia. “I mean, he’s a legendary player and he thinks on his feet. He may play for the Maori team, too, but he’s one of us really, isn’t he?”

Bolger went on to elaborate, “I said it back in 1993 [when John Timu was fullback] and I’ll say it again: Darkies are no good under the high ball.”
