MELBOURNE: Former Australian cricketing legend Shane Warne finished his shift at KFC today by selling 3 colonel burgers for $9.95. The sale brought his average for the day up to 21.76 with a meal deal upsale strike rate of 23.

Warne, who spent a little under 8 hours at the middle counter at the Richmond KFC, was happy with his final figures, but was confident he can do better as he slowly builds his button pressing rhythm.

A cash-strapped Warne has been forced to work as a trainee at KFC since being banned for a year from all forms of cricket for testing positive to the banned diuretics hydrochlorothiazide and amiloride. The ban has cost Warne dearly, losing income from his role as captain of Hampshire, as well as being dumped in his role as celebrity endorser for a number of products.

Warne, is the first to admit that he has found the switch from professional cricketer to KFC crew member as being difficult. Already Warne has received two warnings from Richmond KFC management for allegedly sledging crew members at competing tills. Warne has also been asked to remove his ear piercing as it does not comply with KFC’s strict dress regulations.

On the plus side, however, Warne does receive a generous 10% discount on food purchases, gets to take his uniform home and he may even qualify for a pay rise after 6 months in the job.
