| TOKYO: In a startling post-script to the World Cup Finals France have announced why they bailed out of the tournament in the first round. French Captain Zinedine Zidane told reporters that during the first few nights of the World Cup, members of the German National Team occupied hotel rooms booked by the French team and refused to leave until the French submitted to their fiendish terms.
In an official statement to the press Zidane stated that, "after a period of short but persistent pressure from the German Team, we felt that out best option would be to avoid conflict of any kind, give up fighting and surrender to their demands immediately." The Germans were ecstatic with the news and appointed Franz Beckenbauer as caretaker coach of the French national side until further notice. With France out of the way the Germans cruised to the final and may have gotten away with their dream of total world domination had it not been for the fierce resistance of the brave Brazilian football team. Brazil fought throughout the tournament and finally defeated the Germans 2 - 0 in the final at Yokohama International Stadium last night. ![]() Zidane making his shock announcement to the press. |
