| ASHBURTON: James Piker today seized the upper hand on the first day of the backyard cricket test between himself and his little sister Lisa, being held at 280 Moore St Ashburton.
Piker won the toss and elected to bat, putting on 123 for the first wicket, before being dismissed by Lisa with the one hand one bounce rule. Lisa disappointed with her line and length in the afteroon session, and, bowling unerarm, was often guilty of offering full tosses, which were easily dispatched by Jimmy into the potato patch. This led to several delays in play while the pair searched for the ball. In reply Lisa was bowled out for 3. James immediately enforced the follow on, and at stumps Lisa was on 4 not out, requiring another 116 runs to avoid an out right defeat. Following stumps there was some tension as Lisa threatened to boycott the next days play, claiming that James, was mean to her, and that she didn't want to play anymore. ![]() |
