| NEW YORK - In a bid to increase ratings in the war on Iraq, CNN in partnership with the U.S. military have announced they will introduce interactive programming. The system works between cable television remote controls worldwide and unmanned drones in Iraq.
“Its bold, its new, its war-a-tainment!” declared CNN’s marketing CEO, Chuck Rodgers. “We’re going to allow people to involve themselves in this war like they’ve never been involved before. From the comfort of their own armchairs, Joe Public can pick an Iraqi target, pinpointed to precision, choose the desired missile from the type to the colour, and, with the push of a button from their remote control, it’s bombs away!” Members of the public can either phone in or vote online for particular targets along with the munition of choice. “When enough people have voted and the ordnance selected you can then watch the winner take out the target live on television,” stated Rodgers. Rodgers declared the choice would be totally up to the viewer, who signs in on a pay-per-view basis. “Whether it’s a factory that manufactures socks, underwear or perhaps weapons of mass destruction, a school housing caches of mustard gas and anthrax, or even a busload of children, the amount of carnage caused is totally up to you at home!” U.S. Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld was delighted with CNN’s programming plans. “We are hoping this move will raise the American peoples involvement with the war in both a fun and exciting way,” he said. ![]() |
