VATICAN CITY - The Catholic Church is facing its biggest crisis point in years. The death of Karol Jozef Wojtyla, commonly known as Pope John Paul II, is looming and loyalty to the church waning with each new sex scandal. In order to overcome these problems the Vatican's PR guru's have decided to launch a competition to select the new pope and rebuild their tarnished image.

It has been announced that there will be a sweepstake to decide the new pope upon Pope John Paul's death. The sweepstake is to be based upon the competition in the popular Roald Dahl children's story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The new pope shall be the person who finds the special golden pagan deity which will be placed in the bottom of specially marked Kellogg's cereal boxes.

In a move harking back to the early days of the church the competition is to be open to both the faithful and opportunists alike, although the winner will have to provide the bar code from the cereal box to verify proof of purchase.
