KABUL: The Afghan people today voted overwhelmingly to reinstate the ban on popular music instated by the Taliban. The ban has been reintroduced after initially being lifted when Northern Alliance forces liberated Kabul.

"At first I thought it would be great to finally hear the sound of music again," said Mohammad Afzel, a Kabul factory worker. "But when I dug up my radio from the backyard and turned it on, the first song I heard for 6 years was Steps' "Tragedy". Sod that shit."

"You are lucky my friend" interrupted Uzma Khursid a date salesman. "The first song my ears were subjected to was the Mariah Carey and Westlife remake of "Against All Odds," Truly that has got to be the worst song ever made. I would rather listen to 15 hour readings of the Koran than any more of this crap."
