| WELLINGTON: In a daring midnight raid, American Comedian Bill Cosby has stolen New Zealand cricketers Dion Nash and Bryan Young. The two cricketers were snatched from their beds this morning by a masked Cosby before being bundled into a waiting helicopter and flown off to parts unknown.
New Zealand Cricket was unable to comment about the abduction, stating that they were leaving investigations in the hands of the Police. Spinner understand that Cosby plans to form an American team for the next Cricket World Cup in 2003, and intends to use Nash and Young as the backbone of that squad. It is understood that Cosby hopes to also play in the USA team after perfecting the Bradman Turner Coverdrive. The kidnappings come at a time when cricket is in turmoil after even more allegations of match fixing, and bribery at the highest level. The latest allegations from India have included suggestions that former New Zealand captain Martin Crowe was involved in match fixing. Former Australian batsman Dean Jones, along with Mark Waugh, along with Alec Stewart, and Brian Lara were also named by the Indian Sports Minister as those being investigated. While it has long been known that Australians have scant regards for the rules and laws of the game, news that Crowe may be involved has shocked many, including the man himself. It seems that the only way to save New Zealand cricket now is to bring back brown uniforms and stubbies and have Ewan Chatfield ceremoniously bowl ten overs in succession from the Vance Stand End. ![]() Kidnapped cricketers Dion Nash and Bryan Young (left) |
