LOS ANGELES: Continuing a recent trend here in Hollywood, porn and film critics alike are in unanimous agreement that the film Sex Men 2 is far better than its namesake X Men 2. It is not unusual to read reviews such as this one by Leonard Maltin: “X Men 2 was a porker, but I found Sex Men 2 strangely liberating.”
The trend for trashy low budget movies to be better than their more expensive name-sakes has not gone unnoticed in academia. In fact the phenomenon has become the subject of a paper at the University of Southern California Film School.
“Porn movies used to be scorned for their wooden acting, poor scripts and even worse plot developments,” stated P. G. Jones Director of films studies at the University of Southern California.
“Now we are consistently seeing Hollywood films being surpassed by their X rated pun-sakes. Not only in plot development and in the screenplay but in many cases even in the acting department.”
“X-Men 2 was stupid, boring, and entirely pointless. Sex Men 2, however, despite being a mindless parody was infinitely more engaging, endearing and thought provoking then its namesake. Perhaps if Jack Towers or Misty Mountains took one of the lead roles in X-Men 2 they may have been able to save that dire dire movie.”
Sex Men 2, tells the tale of a group of mutants who use their bizarre sexual skills to save the world. Shooter for example, produces excessive amounts of semen whenever he ejaculates. His talent comes in handy whenever the mutants frequent outdoor orgies are threatened by rampant forest fires.
Other recent X-rated films Jones pin-points as being better then their name-sake include Gang Bangs of New York, Harry Porker and the Chamber of Dildos, Cumageddon, and Blowgirls.
“Once I used to look at porn actors and wonder what unfortunate set of circumstances led to them taking up such an occupation,” Jones mused. “Now I feel the same way every time I see a big budget Hollywood film. What stories of absolute horror and depravity force these actors to take these roles. It is hard to imagine the depths of drug addiction, desperation and despair that force these actors to accept roles in movies like Scooby Doo, MIB 2, or those shitty Star Wars cash-ins.” ![]() A still from X-men 2 (left) and Misty Mountains, star of Sex Men 2 talks to reporters about the films success (right) |
