Sony to digitally enhance audience

TOKYO: Sony has announced their vision for the future of entertainment - a digitally enhanced audience. Sony's plans involve embedding a super advanced chip in the brains of motion picture goers, which activate specific emotions at set points in a movie.

The chip has been specially designed to trigger the Neuro transmitters in the brain that control emotions, fear, and adrenaline in order to maximise consumer's customer satisfaction and enjoyment of Sony produced motion pictures.

The chips operate by picking up signals from specially located transmitters within a theatre. The transmitters will be programmed by the films producers to instil the required emotion at various points in the movie.

"When something good happens in the film the chip will stimulate the neurons that produce feelings of happiness - when something exciting happens the chips will stimulate the hippocampus which will release adrenalin and so on," Sony Chief Executive Toshi Yokohama explained.

Mr Yokohama outlined the process to invited guests and reporters at a lavish launch party in Tokyo. "Market Research has shown that many people viewing our pictures fail to enjoy them. They fail to get emotionally attached to the stories, and often find them trite and contrived, even when we include expensive explosions and car-chases. These chips will ensure that all people will experience the same levels of emotion and excitement while watching our films. In short, everyone will enjoy our pictures - guaranteed."

The chips, which have been embedded in Sony's Japanese workforce for 40 years, are about the size of a pinhead and can be easily injected into Movie Goers at the theatre by specially trained confectionary staff. Sony intend to give the chips away to all motion picture goers, although customers will have to prove that they have a chip installed before they can see future Sony productions.

Mr Yokohama would neither confirm nor deny that the chips could be used to control a massive army of zombie like people, to ensure that they mindlessly go about their lives producing and consuming products with no other worldly purpose. Yokohama did state that Sony was planning to use the chips to ensure that people feel the correct emotional responses when using other Sony products including Sony Playstation and music released on Sony records.

"This is very good news for those who cannot stand the music of popular Sony artists like Britney Spears, Billy Joel and Jamiroquai" Mr Yokohama concluded, "with these chips, people will be able enjoy this great music and once again fit in to society."
