| The Greens have dramatically surged ahead in the latest Spinner election Poll and are now neck and neck with Labour with 33% support. Act and National follow behind with 16% support each. The big loser in today's poll is Winston Peters, who has dropped off the political radar with zero support. If the poll was translated to seats in the House, neither United Future, NZ First nor the Maori Party would be in the next Parliament. Labour would need the support of the Greens to Govern New Zealand, while the Greens would want a larger share of policy decisions. Prime Minister Helen Clark said last night through a spokeswoman that the result was consistent with feedback Labour MPs had received during the four-week recess. While Greens Co-leader Rod Donald was also not surprised by the result. National, however, believes the race is more even then the Spinner poll suggests. "Polling is very volatile and we believe we are in a neck-and-neck race which could fluctuate all the way to the election," Dr Brash said last night through a spokesman. The poll, taken from responses to a question on the Spinner website had a sample size of 6. The poll was conducted between around 3pm and 3.40pm on Wednesday and has a margin of error of 6.1 per cent. ![]() Results of the latest Spinner Poll. |
