AUCKLAND (AP) — Israeli missiles hit the Auckland Police Headquarters Monday, wounding a Police Constable and two other people, a spokesman for the New Zealand Police said.

White smoke rose into the sky from the building, and a large crowd quickly gathered around the complex in the centre of Auckland city.

The Israeli military refused to comment. Although commentators feel that the strikes were ordered in retaliation for the imprisonment of two Mossad agents Eli Cara and Urie Kelman, who were caught trying to obtain false New Zealand passports.

New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clarke was outraged by the incident and has demanded an apology from the Isreali government for breaching New Zealand sovereignty.

It appeared unlikely Israel would comment about the latest incident.
