AUCKLAND: A breakthrough in pillow design has been announced with a new pillow especially developed for the terminally ill. The "Permarest 2003" features extra stuffing to provide full coverage of the mouth and nose, and will be slightly scented with morphine. Handles have also been added, which will help to hold the pillow firmly in place.

The pillow was designed after Super Softy Pillows received complaints from customers unhappy with the pillow's effectiveness in dispatching their aged parents.

"We had cases where our pillows slipped off their intended user, resulting in decreased effectiveness." said Alex Hickey, product development manager of Super Softy Pillows International. "Now with the new Permarest 2003, these problems will be a thing of the past."
