| INVERCARGILL:
You may not have heard of Morris Tadbolt, but if you’ve
listened to Invercargill’s student radio station
FNFM in the last 15 years then you may be familiar with
his more commonly used radio name The Mighty Magoo. Tadbolt,
or Might Magoo, is celebrating 16 years in the student
radio this month.
Tadbolt who
has been program director at the station for the past
7 years is the first to admit that he loves his job and
can’t wait to get in to work each morning. Despite keeping busy as programme director Morris still finds time to host the afternoon hoon show and the specialist Dance show on Tuesday evenings. The forty year old Morris has seen a lot of changes in the industry in the last decade and a half and believes Internet piracy is the biggest threat to music as we know it. As such he is supportive of the Music Industry’s attempts to sue file sharers in the US. “Although taking litigation is very dramatic I feel that it is essential that the music industry takes steps to stop people stealing music from the artists.” Morris who last purchased a CD in 1989 prides himself on his extensive collection of CD’s and albums. Many have been signed by touring artists, believing their wares would be given away to listeners as prizes. Despite spending more than a decade at the station Morris has no plans to retire just yet. “I hope to be involved with the station for at least another 10 years!” Tadbolt announced to the immediately subdued co-workers who had gathered to celebrate his glorious milestone. |
