WANAKA: Police and an anti contamination squad were called to a Wanaka house this Friday, following the discovery of suspicious white powder in a bag of Chelsea icing sugar.

Wanaka resident Marlene Dayton made the terrifying discovery. "I was about to make some icing, so I opened a bag of icing sugar. Suddenly I noticed a mass of white powder inside the bag. There was quite a mass of it, I would estimate about 500 grams. I screamed and called 111 immediately."

Police sealed off the area, and are satisfied that the suspicious powder has been contained. They have warned the public to be on heightened alert for similar incidents.

The powder has been sent to MAF for analysis.
