| PALMERSTON NORTH: A Palmerston North Post Office employee was stunned when a customer told him that he was not into Te Reo. "I greeted the elderly gentleman with a cheerful Kia-ora" said customer service consultant Hone Jamieson, "and he as good as threw it back in my face".
The man, later identified as Graham Masters, a retired electrician, allegedly responded to Jamieson’s culturally appropriate greeting with a "Sorry mate, but I’m not into Te Reo".
When contacted for comment, Race Relations conciliator Dr Ranjen Prasad confirmed that his office would be investigating the incident. |
