| RIVERTON - Southland primary school student Keri Carter, 9, married her mathematics teacher, Steve Hamilton, in a private ceremony in her Riverton bedroom yesterday.
Carter has had a crush on Hamilton, 31, since March, after he began relieving her class when "Smelly-Pants" Herbert was allegedly taken to the "loony-bin." Hamilton couldn't be present for the ceremony due to various laws and ethical concerns, leaving his role to be played by Carter's brother's Action Man figure. Due to her status as a minor, Carter was also unable to participate in the ceremony. Her role as bride was played by her Barbie doll, and Carter herself played the part of marriage celebrant. Carter said the ceremony was a private but successful affair. Barbie Keri and Action Man Steve are currently honeymooning on a shelf in the top of her wardrobe designed to look like a Malibu Patio. When asked to comment on the wedding, Southland Primary Schools Inspector Don Jenkins said he "would be looking into it first thing in the morning." ![]() Newly wed Keri Carter (left) and teacher/husband Steve Hamilton |
