| The United Party were not the only ones celebrating their surprise showing in the last months election, the result was also a victory for Spinner's polling team who as far back as August last year predicted a ground swell of support for Peter Dunne's team.
Spinner's August 2001 poll showed United had increased support from 1% to 3%, a full year earlier than any competing news source noticed the trend. As accurate polling is regarded as essential to the reliability of any serious news agency Spinner take particular pride in once again being first with the news. "The result is clearly a vindication for our sampling methods." Stated the head of Spinners polling team Gary Mitchell. "Our polling has consistently shown that there is a groundswell of support for Peter Dunne and his policies. So much so that if I was the head of one of our competing news agencies, I would certainly be asking if the person responsible for my polling knew his ANOVA's from his nonlinear regression models."
