EFTPOS receipt contradicts official version of previous night's activities

AUCKLAND: An EFTPOS receipt has been introduced as evidence in the continuing trial of Derek Peter Wilson (24) of Onehunga. The receipt produced by chief prosecutor Sharon Jones (22) seriously contradicts Wilson's official explanation of his whereabouts last night.

Wilson originally stated to long time partner Jones that on the night in question he and the guys from work had met up at the London Bar, before going to "some bar in Parnell then getting a Kebab and heading home at around midnight."

The receipt, which was found in the pocket of Wilson's brown corduroy jacket, places Wilson at the Kings Arms Tavern in Newton at 23.07 seriously disputing his official account.

Upon discovery of the receipt Ms. Jones was quick to use the evidence to question the plausibility of Wilson's previously watertight alibi.

Under cross-examination Wilson was forced to concede that it was "highly unlikely" that he would be able to make the journey from Newton to Parnell and then Onehunga, in less than an hour and admitted that perhaps they did stop off for a pint or two at the Kings Arms before making the trip home.

In her summing up Jones stated that by providing false information to the prosecution Wilson had indicated that he had something to hide and that she was certain that she would get to the bottom of the matter in due course. She also stated that she wouldn't be surprised if that floozy Alice from accounts was involved in the whole messy saga somewhere along the line.

Wilson was placed under house arrest to allow the prosecution time to gather more evidence. The trial is expected to continue after Ms Jones returns from Netball practice this afternoon.
