| AUCKLAND: 3 News Assistant Video Editor Fiona McKay lost her job yesterday after accidentally wiping valuable footage of Green Party delegates dancing at their annual conference in Auckland last month.
The tape, which has aired on 3 News every time the Green Party features in a bulletin was inadvertently wiped over by McKay when she was creating a new montage to be used for future Green related stories. The new montage combined the dancing footage with footage of Nandor Tanczos skateboarding down Lambton Quay, bearded party members playing guitars, bongos and flutes and images of female delegates knitting mohair jumpers out of recycled pubic hair. 3 News Producer Tim Hawk was devastated upon hearing the news and immediately took his anger out on a remorseful McKay. Researchers at 3 News are said to be frantically scanning through tapes of previous telecasts in an effort to salvage the footage for a Green Election special to air tomorrow night. ![]() Valuable Footage of Dancing Green Party members. |
